Dennis Blackbourn

Dennis Blackbourn, age 67, of Beetown, WI, passed away on February 24^th, 2015 at UW Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born in Lancaster, WI on January 17, 1948. He was the second son of Edward and Ruth (Eastman) Blackbourn. Dennis graduated from Cassville High School in 1966, and then joined the Navy attending boot camp in San Diego, CA. He trained as an Electronic Technician and graduated second in his class, earning a station at Patrick Air Force Base near Cocoa Beach, FL.

On August 31^st, 1968, Dennis returned home to marry his high school sweet heart, Cheryl Duncan, at the Beetown United Methodist Church. They would move to Florida, where Dennis was assigned to a telemetry ship, called the USS Range Sentinel. Dennis served 6 admirable years in the Navy. Dennis moved home and worked 36 years at Alliant Energy in Cassville, WI as a Lab Instrument Tech, and moonlighted as a TV repairman, retiring in 2009.

Dennis had a passion for flying and obtained his private pilot's license in 1978, and later his, instrument, multi-engine, commercial, and flight-instructor ratings. He enjoyed spending time with family, camping, watching airshows, and having cookouts.

Survivors include Cheryl, his loving wife of 46 years, their two children; Tyler (Lynn Christy) Blackbourn of Madison, WI and Travis (Wendy Van Natta) Blackbourn of Kieler, WI. Dennis was also blessed with four grandsons (Lucas, Colin, Brody, & Gavin); his mother Ruth Blackbourn, Beetown, WI and also, three siblings; Terry (Donna) Blackbourn, Cedar Rapids, IA; Ken (Ruth Ann) Blackbourn, Dixon, IL; JoEllen Roche (Tom Rupnow), Monroe, WI.

Dennis was preceded in death by his Father, Edward Blackbourn, who died in November of 1969.

Memorial services with military honors were held on Friday, February 27, 2015, at 12:00 noon at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Reverend Barbara Cook officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family and friends called on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Arnold C. Blindert

Arnold Celestine Blindert, age 74, of Potosi, died on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in rural Lancaster. He was born on February 14, 1934, in Rockville, WI, the son of Harold and Bernadette (Klar) Blindert. On August 5, 1965, Arnold was united in marriage to Ruth I. Skinner at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Arnold was employed with John Deere Dubuque Works for thirty years, until his retirement in 1985. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955. Arnold enjoyed his daily trips to the Roadhouse to visit with friends and play poker machines and Shake-A-Day. He commercial fished for many years and also enjoyed deer, rabbit, squirrel and ginseng hunting, regular fishing and putting puzzles together.

Survivors include his children: Diana Brunton, Platteville; Michael (Tina) Blindert, Loveland, CO; his five grandchildren: Emily, Damien, and Makyla Brunton, Platteville, and Dustyn and Shane Blindert, Loveland, CO; three brothers: Harold (Karen) Blindert, Potosi; Carl (Dorothea) Blindert, Potosi; Douglas Blindert, Burnet, TX; two sisters: Betty (Eldon) Pluemer, Potosi; Ann (Francis) Klein, Platteville; three sisters-in-law: Jackie Blindert, Potosi; Carol Blindert, Platteville; Mary Pauley, Burton; a brother-in-law, Eugene (Alice) Skinner, Dubuque, IA; a special niece, Catherine Nix, Burton; and many nieces and nephews.

Arnold was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth on May 18, 1997; his father, Harold; his mother and step-father, Bernadette and Herbert Ducky Besler; two grandsons in infancy, brothers: Vernon and Bernard, a sister, Lucy Faherty; a brother-in-law, Harland Pauley and his favorite sidekick, his dog, Girlie.

A Celebration of Life was held on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at the Martin Funeral Home in Potosi, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a blessing at 5:30 p.m. by Father Richard Leffler. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of plants and flowers, an Arnold C. Blindert memorial fund has been established. A special thanks to Kim Leamy and Grant County Hospice, and the staff at Orchard Manor.

Dale M. Blum

Dale Monroe Blum, age 80, of Corpus Christi, TX, formerly of Cassville, passed away at his daughters home in Corpus Christi, TX, on Thursday, July 17, 2008, joining his wife, son and parents in heaven. Dale was born in Cassville, WI on January 31, 1928, the son of Albert and Helen (Pendelton) Blum. He started work at John Deere Tractor Works, in Dubuque, Iowa and Roland Kaap. He then enlisted into the United States Navy and was stationed in Corpus Christi, TX., where he met his bride to be, Laura D. Fernandez. They were married August 11, 1951, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. After ten years in the U.S. Navy, he re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While in the service, he served in the Korean Conflict, Indochina War, Cuban Missile crisis, and Vietnam. He was awarded numerous medals and ribbons for his service to our country. Dale retired with 20 years in the service and signed on for 10 years active reserve service.

He and his wife sold the farm and moved to Texas for a length of time but he always found his way back home to Wisconsin. While in Texas, he went back to work with the City and found new friends at CCAD in the bearing shop. Within the last two years, he moved with his daughter and granddaughter to Corpus Christi, TX where he enjoyed watching Tayler grow, excel in school, music and athletics. Dale was a 32^nd degree Mason and was a member of the Warren Lodge No.4 of Potosi and was involved with these organizations for many years.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Blum, Corpus Christi, TX; a son, Patrick Blum, Beetown; one granddaughter: Tayler Blum, Corpus Christi, TX; brothers and sisters: Nellie Curtis, Hawkins, Stanley and Olga Blum, Lake Geneva; Rexford Blum, Dubuque, IA; Ruth Hunt, Jackson, MI; Pete and Janet Blum, Beetown; nieces and nephews spread out across the country.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Norder officiating. Burial with military honors was in Cassville Cemetery. Friends called on Friday, July 25, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. The Martin Funeral Home in Cassville assisted the family. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff from Amedysis and Interim Home Health Agencies along with Vista Care Hospice, Mike and Wynona, who helped care for Dad at home, and a special thanks to Dr. Zarinetchi and Dr. Padmanabhan, for the compassion and professionalism shown to our dad while in the hospital.

Frances M. Blum

Frances M. Blum, age 73, passed away Monday July 29, 2013 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born May 14, 1940 the daughter of Edward and Frances (Crubel) Weber. Frannie graduated from Bloomington High School in 1958. She was united into marriage to James J. Blum on May 27, 1959 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington. Together they farmed hand in hand on the Blum Family farm in Glen Haven Township. Frannie was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven, its altar society, and served on the parish council. She was very devoted to her family. Frannie loved to play cards, cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers, and the fun of having family and friends around her house .

Surviving is her husband Jim, children; Brenda (James) Dean, Laurie (Mo) Vogt, Carol (Bruce) Adrian, Carl (Kerry) Blum, and Andy (Amanda Krie) Blum; Granny Frannies ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; sisters, Lulu Mae Vogt, Germaine Mumm, Margaret Breuer, Mary Ann Harter, a brother Gerald (Valerie) Weber, a brother in law, Jim (Norma Starrett) Ley a sister in law Mary Weber, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Catherine Kate Ley, Bernice in infancy, brothers Edward and Virgil (Connie) Weber, great granddaughter Chole Vogt, and brother in laws Edward Vogt, Vincent Mumm, Burnell Breuer and Robert Harter.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 2, 2013 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial was Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven Township. Friends called on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 4 to 8 pm and on Friday, from 9:30 am until time of services at the church. The Martin Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Bloomington is in charge of arrangements.

Ila Mae Bockhop

Ila Mae Bockhop, age 85, of Belmont, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home in Cuba City. She was born on November 10, 1923, the daughter of Theodore and Leona (Helms) Busch in Belmont. Ila Mae attended Cottage Inn School, graduated from Belmont High School and received a B.S. degree in Home Economics from U. W. Madison. She was united in marriage to Dale Barney Bockhop on October 3, 1946 at Peace Lutheran Church in Belmont. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1970.

Ila Mae taught Home Economics at Cuba City High School and cooked at numerous restaurants and supper clubs. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Belmont, including being involved with the LCW. She was also the former president of the Lafayette County Homemakers, a cook for the SUN program in Lafayette County and the representative of the residence council at Southwest Health Center. Ila Mae enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, reading, playing cards and bowling. She also liked to watch the Milwaukee Brewers. Ila Mae especially loved her family and adored her grandchildren.

Ila Mae is survived by four children: Daryl Butch (Peggy) Bockhop, Belmont, Peggy L. Bockhop, Clearwater, FL, Duane Dewey (Julie) Bockhop, Cuba City and Pam (Ed Buck) Banfield, Scottsdale, AZ; seven grandchildren, Amy (Tom) Sareeram, Angela and Tiffany Bockhop, Jennifer Bockhop, B.J. (Annie) Bockhop, Sarah and Kelsey Banfield; one great-grandson, Gabe Bockhop; her sister, Neva Eileen Place, Belmont; two sisters-in-law, Marie Ruskell, Belmont and Ferne Bockhop, Platteville; a special friend, Dorothy Splinter; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Dalen.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Peace Lutheran Church in Belmont with Reverend Connie Matye officiating. Burial was held in Belmont Cemetery. Family and friends were welcome from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.

Larry Bockhop

Larry J. "Bucky" Bockhop, age 71, of Belmont, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017, at his residence. He was born December 1, 1945, the son of Maynard and Ruth (Woodward) Bockhop at the Cunningham Hospital, Platteville, Wisconsin. Larry graduated from Belmont High School in 1963. He farmed the Bockhop Family Farm in Belmont. Larry enjoyed watching any sporting activity. He was inducted into the South West Wisconsin Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 2011.

Survivors include his aunt, Viola Kuehl, Platteville; many members of the Bockhop and Woodward families; longtime friend and farmhand, Randy Darrow; many other friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents Maynard and Ruth Bockhop.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 100 Park Place, Platteville, with Reverend Michael Short officiating. Burial was in Belmont Cemetery, Belmont. Family and friends called on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral homes.

Ruth C. Bockhop

Ruth C. Bockhop, age 87, of Platteville, died Monday, January 7, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital in Madison. Ruth was born on December 26, 1925 in Platteville, a daughter of George & Christine (Christianson) Woodward.

Ruth married Maynard J. Bockhop on May 25, 1945 in Dubuque, IA.

Ruth is survived by her son, Larry Bockhop of Platteville; a sister, Viola (Merlyn) Kuehl of Platteville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Maynard in 1983; her parents; two sisters, Loretta Richter and Rozella Spease; and two brothers, Kenneth and Lester Woodward.

Funeral Services were held at 11 am on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home, 100 Park Place, Platteville, with Rev. Michael Short officiating. Burial was in Belmont Cemetery. Friends called from 9 am until the start of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Doris A. Bode

Doris A. Bode, age 89, of Potosi, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Morningside Assisted Living in Lancaster. She was born on April 9, 1925, in Paoli, WI, the daughter of Leo and Rose (Ziegler) Ambort. Doris graduated from Seneca High School. On May 22, 1944, she was united in marriage to Robert Bode at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi. Together they raised seven children. Doris was employed at Loudspeaker Component, drove school bus, operated a bar and supper club, and was the secretary/treasurer of Bode Trucking until her retirement in 1998. She had a loving disposition and a wonderful work ethic. Doris loved her home, family and her Toyota and enjoyed cooking. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson.

Survivors include her children: Rose (Bob) Long, Arvada, CO; Theodore (Diane) Bode, Potosi; Norma Jean (Richard) Kammerud, Lancaster; Jerry (Diane) Bode; Mark Bode; and Victoria (Tim) Timmerman, all of Potosi; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Leona Doser, Potosi; MaryBelle Ryan, Waukesha; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her step-mother, Martha Ambort; her husband, Robert; a son, Ronnie Bode; three brothers: Warner Ambort; Reuben Ambort; and Norman Fuzzy Ambort; her sisters-in-law: Leona Ambort; Ruth Ambort, and Marie Ambort; her brothers-in-law: Danny Doser and Harold Ryan.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, June 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Family and friends called on Sunday, June 22, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Cyndy K. Bohringer

Cyndy K. Bohringer, age 51, of Lancaster died on Monday, August 25, 2008, at her home in Lancaster. She was born on April 12, 1957, in Beloit, the daughter of John Dale Harris, Sr. and Marhta A. Salisburg Harris. Cyndy graduated form Union Grove Wisconsin High School and then attended Southwest Technical College graduating in the computer science program. She was a customer service representative in the catalog ordering department for Lands End in Dodgeville. Cyndy dearly enjoyed spending time with her family and being able to quilt.

Survivors include her children: Joshua Bohringer and Jubilee Bohringer, both of Bagley; her mother, Martha (James) Mitsch, Bagley; brothers and sisters: John Dale (Debbie) Harris, Jr., Des Plaines, IL; Theresa (John) Eisenmenger, Darien; Matthew (Michelle) Harris, Garnavello, IA; many nieces and nephews; former husband, Emil Bohringer, Jr., Bagley and former mother-in-law, VirdiaBell Bohringer, Bagley.

Cyndy was preceded in death by a son, Josiah; her father, John Dale Harris, Sr., and her father-in-law, Emil Bohringer, Sr.

Emil Bohringer, Jr.

Emil E. Bohringer, Jr., age 58, of Bagley, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, July 7, 2014. He was born on October 19, 1955, in rural Bagley, the son of Emil and VirdiaBell (Wilcox) Bohringer. Emil attended West Grant and graduated in 1974. He was a janitor for thirty-four years at River Ridge School.

Survivors include his two children: Jubilee and Joshua; his mother, VirdiaBell; three sisters: Mary Ann Eckstein, Diana (Larrie) Hazen; Lisa (Shawn) Weese and numerous nieces and nephews.

Emil was preceded in death by his father, his son, Josiah, his brothers: Timothy and Eric, and his ex-wife, Cynthia (Harris) Bohringer.

Funeral services were on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bloomington. Burial will be at a later date. Family and friends called on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Barbara A. Borgen

Barbara A. Borgen, age 68, of Patch Grove, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2008, after a courageous battle with Leukemia at her residence. She was born on February 29, 1940, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Myron and Oneita (Moore) Borgen. Barbara graduated from Lutheran High School in Chicago in 1958. She then continued her education at the Chicago School of Nursing. Barbara was employed as a dental assistant. In 1975, Barbara relocated to Patch Grove. She was a member of Patch Grove United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her aunt, Elna Borgen, LaCrosse; many cousins and dear friends and caregivers; and her loving house cat, Honey Sue.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and a very special aunt, Nina.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Patch Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Graham and Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Patch Grove Cemetery. Friends called on Thursday, April 3, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Louis K. Bossert

Louis K. Bossert, age 87, of Cassville died on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the Lancaster Care Center. He was born on January 21, 1924, in rural Cassville, the son of Harry and Clara (Bryhan) Bossert. On June 26, 1945, Louis was united in marriage to Helen L. Rice at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Burton. Louis served several terms on the St. Peters Lutheran Church Council. He also served on the Cassville Volunteer Fire Department for twenty-seven years, Cassville Village Board, Elderly Housing Board, Cassville Cemetery Association, and was a Past Master for the Masonic Lodge. Louis was employed as a State Farm Insurance Agent for twenty years.

Survivors include his children: Steven (Diane) Bossert, Fountain City; Vicki (David) Ploessl, Cassville; Laura (Mark) Joyce, Bloomington; Lisa (Randy) Hantelmann, Dubuque, IA; half brother, Bruce Bossert, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Melvin Houghton, Cassville; sister-in-law, Clarice Bossert, Milwaukee; good friend, Bernice Stratton, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Helen on January 18, 1998, an infant brother, Gainford, brother, Harlyn, sister, Ruth Houghton and a grandson, Andrew Bossert, killed in Iraq in 2005.

Funeral services were held on Friday, August 19, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville, with Pastor Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial was in Cassville Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Thursday, August 18, from 4 to 8 pm at Martin Funeral Home, Cassville, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Gary R. Boyd

Gary R. Boyd, age 68, of Dickeyville, went home to his Heavenly Father on Friday, November 22, 2013, at his home. Gary was born on September 13, 1945, in Spooner, the son of Donald C. and Thelma D. Boyd. Gary grew up in Lancaster and entered the United States Air Force in 1963 and served his country until 1967 with great pride. He lived in Tennessee for many years where he was blessed with three beautiful children. Twin sons, Ronnie (Tracy), USAF Base, VA; Randy (Michele) Hendersonville, TN; and his daughter, Cheryl (Cort) Panama City, FL. Gary talked about his kids with great pride and his beautiful grandchildren: Andrew, Brandon, Lauren, Brady, Kendall, Vincent, Daniel, Hannah, and River, who were all held dearly to his heart. He was also a godfather to Jill Eilers and Gavin Clayton. Gary shared a birthday with his nephew, Brandon. Gary served on the American Legion Post No. 17 in Sumner County, TN, as a Commander and recently joined the American Legion Post No. 473 in Potosi. While living in Tennessee, Gary belonged to the Shriners and performed in parades and at the Childrens Hospital as Buttons the Clown. He loved entertaining the children at the hospital. Gary moved back to Wisconsin in 2009 where his heart longed to be and resided in Dickeyville. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Gary is further survived by his siblings: Nick (Pat), Terry (Diane), Betty (John), Shirley (Ben), John (Betty), and Cathy (Darrel); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and an Uncle Leo and Aunt Lily in Oklahoma which will miss him and his wonderful humor.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, two uncles and a cousin.

Alberta M. Bradley

Alberta M. Bradley, age 88, of Glen Haven, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She was born on July 4, 1924, in Patch Grove, the daughter of Albert and Katherine (Vogt) Richter. On October 10, 1945, Alberta was united in marriage to Stewart Bradley at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and its Altar Society. Alberta enjoyed reading, playing cards, picking up walnuts and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Stewart Bradley, Glen Haven; their children: Sharon (John) Tesar, Jr., and Judy (Charles) Johll, all of Prairie du Chien; Rodney Bradley, Glen Haven; five grandchildren: Tim Tesar, Prairie du Chien; Kim (Leon) Trappe, Monona, IA; Rick Johll, Jenny (Chris) Phelps, and Andy Johll all of Prairie du Chien; her sister, Mary Berger, Prairie du Chien; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Bradley, Platteville; Leona Richter, Lancaster; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Alberta was preceded in death by five sisters: Florence Hill, Sabina Strnad, Ann Waller, Nellie Richter and Dorothy Richter; and one brother, Celestine Richter.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven. Family and friends called on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, an Alberta M. Bradley Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington is serving the family.

Stewart M. Bradley

Stewart M. Bradley, age 96, of Glen Haven, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. He was born on June 3, 1916, in Potosi, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Kelly) Bradley. Stewart served his country in the United States Army from 1941 until his honorable discharge in 1945. He served overseas in the Southern Philippines, New Guinea, and Luzon. During his service, Stewart was awarded Pacific Theatre Service Medal, American Defense Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star and six Overseas Bars. On October 10, 1945, Stewart was united in marriage to Alberta Richter at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. After their marriage, Stewart farmed for many years. He farmed for Metcalf Ag in Glen Haven and later worked for the Town of Glen Haven as a Sanitation Engineer. He also worked as a janitor for St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. Stewart was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, the Glen Haven Volunteer Fire Department and the Cassville VFW Post No. 7080. He enjoyed mowing grass and going for rides.

Survivors include his children: Sharon (John) Tesar, Jr., and Judy (Charles) Johll, all of Prairie du Chien; Rodney Bradley, Glen Haven; five grandchildren: Tim Tesar, Prairie du Chien; Kim (Leon) Trappe, Monona, IA; Rick Johll, Jenny (Chris) Phelps, and Andy Johll all of Prairie du Chien; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Stewart was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alberta on January 2, 2013; seven brothers: Jasper, Delbert, Lawrence, Earl, Leo, Walter, and Donald.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, April 26, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven with Father John Meinholz officiating. Mary Brandemuehl

Mary I. Brandemuehl, age 94, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, in Dubuque, IA, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 26, 1922, the daughter of Herbert and Fern (Miles) Schwantes. Mary graduated from Lancaster High School in 1940. She married James C. Brandemuehl on March 10, 1941, in Clinton, IA. Together they farmed all of their lives. In 1950, they purchased a farm in Liberty Township that became the Brandemuehl family farm. Mary was a member of the Grant County Cattlemen and Cowbells, West Grant Saddle Club, Rebecca Lodge, Lancaster United Methodist Church, and Grant County Pork Producers. She dedicated more than fifty years as a Grant County 4-H leader and member of the Livestock Facility Trust. Jim and Mary were founding members of the Wisconsin High School Rodeo Association and were members of the Southwest Wisconsin Regional High School Rodeo. She also assisted Liberty Township during election season. Mary was a proud steward of the land and was a great matriarch of her farm. Mary's daily routine of caring for her livestock was her happy time.

Survivors include her children: Larry (Jean); John (Linda) Brandemuehl; Cathy (Steve) McPhail; Sue (Jeff) Funk; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Linda Saunders; a sister, Carol Graney; a brother, Alan (Dolores) Schwantes; many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James; son, David; a daughter-in-law, Sandra; a great-grandson, Bradley Millin; two brothers: Miles and Norman (Erma) Schwantes; a brother-in-law, Rex Graney.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 23, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Pastor Jean Schmitt officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Mabel E. Brandt

Mabel E. "Babe" Brandt, age 88, of Lancaster, formerly of Potosi, died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Orchard Manor. Babe was born on March 6, 1924 in Waterloo Township, WI, daughter of Frank and Anna (Knockle) Patcle. She married Merlin Tubbs Brandt on May 21, 1946 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi. Babe and Tubbs farmed in rural Potosi for most of their lives. In later years, she was a cook at Friedmans Supper Club. She also became known as Grandma Babe while working at Tee-Pee Daycare in Potosi.

Babe is survived by her children, Beth (Carl) Abing of Cassville, Greg (Mary) Brandt of Cuba City, Cathy (George) Pennekamp of Potosi, Pat (Tom) Tobin of Potosi, and Jane (Dale) Ley of Potosi; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Donald Brandt of Kieler; a sister-in-law, Helen Patcle of Potosi; and several nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin in 2009; her parents; two brothers, John Patcle and Frank Patcle Jr.; and three sisters, Marge Zenz Cherrier, Mary Zenz, and Florence Elwell.

Funeral Services were held at 11 am on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson, with Fr. Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in St. Thomas Cemetery in Potosi. Friends called from 9 am until the start of the service Tuesday at the church. Martin Funeral Home, Potosi is serving her family.

In lieu of plants and flowers, a Babe Brandt Memorial Fund has been established to be given to local organizations.

Merlin B. "Tubbs" Brandt

Merlin B. Tubbs Brandt, age 88, of Potosi died Friday, May 8, 2009 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on May 24, 1920, the son of Sylvester and Susan (Duve) Brandt in Kieler, WI. Tubbs enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corp in December 1941 serving in Italy, North Africa and the Panama Canal until September 1945 when he was honourably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. He was united in marriage to Mabel Babe Patcle on May 21, 1946 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi.

Tubbs farmed in rural Potosi and was self-employed carpenter for many years. He enjoyed fishing and telling stories. Tubbs also loved to go to McCartneys Corner for coffee every morning.

Merlin is survived by his wife, Mabel Babe of 63 years; four children: Beth (Carl) Abing, Cassville, Greg (Mary) Brandt, Cuba City, Cathy (George) Pennekamp, Pat (Tom) Tobin and Jane (Dale) Ley, all of Potosi; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Brandt, Kieler; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Brandt, East Moline, IL and Helen Patcle, Potosi; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Walter and Karl.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 11, 2009 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial with Military Honors provided by the Berg Averkamp VFW Post #5276 and the American Legion Post #473, both from Potosi was held in St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends were welcome from 9:00 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church. The Martin Funeral Home in Potosi is serving the family.

Pearl K. Brandt

Pearl K. Brandt, age 90, of Hudson and formerly of Tennyson, WI, passed away peacefully at the Pine Ridge Assisted Living Apartments in Hudson on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011. She was born in Tennyson on April 22, 1921 to Joseph and Elizabeth Schmitz. She was a 1939 graduate of St. Andrews High School in Tennyson. On Aug. 26, 1942 she married Karl Brandt at St. Marys Catholic Church in Coupeville, WA. They celebrated their 60^th wedding anniversary shortly before his death on Sept. 10, 2002.

Pearl was a selfless person who always put others needs ahead of her own. She took pride in keeping a comfortable and welcoming home along with serving delicious meals and desserts. Her pies and sweet rolls were only two of her many specialties. She loved spending time laughing with family and friends while enjoying a good game of cards.

She drew strength and comfort from her faith, a devoted Catholic whose rosary beads were never far from her.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, husband Karl; 2 sons, James and Jerry; a grandson, Rick; four brothers, Maynard, Orville, Leo, Leroy; and a sister, Hilda.

Pearl is survived by her four children, Sue (Richard) Benson, East Moline, IL; Dennis (Brenda) Brandt, Onalaska, WI; Bonnie (Rand) Sortland, Hudson, WI; and Ron (Cindy) Brandt, Lancaster, WI, a sister, Viola Steiger; three sister-in-laws, Sylvia, Celine and Babe; brother-in-law, Donald; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Dale Braudt

Dale L. Braudt, age 78, of Bloomington, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015, at his home. He was born on January 10, 1937, at Brodtville in Wyalusing Township, the son of Louis and Lela (Ariss) Braudt. Dale graduated from Patch Grove High School. On October 6, 1961, he married Betty A. Campbell at the Lutheran Parsonage in Prairie du Chien. He was employed at Hermsen's Ace Hardware in Bloomington for many years as an electrician. Dale was a member of the Bloomington Fire Department for over forty years and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Prairie du Chien. In his younger days, Dale enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include two sisters: Ruby (Clifford) Jahnke and Mariajane (Aelred) Mezera; a step-son, Thomas Anderson; three granddaughters; many nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Betty of forty-one years.

Edward Breitsprecker

Edward R. "Ed" Breitsprecker, Sr., age 73, of Potosi, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. He was born on February 12, 1941, in rural Dubuque, IA, the son of Henry and Frances (Buchholtz) Breitsprecker. On April 29, 1961, Ed was united in marriage to Fern B. Daughetee at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dubuque, IA. After their marriage, Ed was employed at Dubuque Packing Company for five years and later was employed with John Deere Works in Dubuque for thirty years. He also farmed and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and playing cards.

Survivors include his children: Wanda Zinsmaster; Joyce Walter; Carol (Tom) Hughey; Ed (Amy) Breitsprecker; Joe (Veronica) Breitsprecker; Tom (Wanda) Breitsprecker; and Bob (Kelly) Breitsprecker; thirteen grandchildren: Stephanie, David (Katie), Nick (Allie), Shannon, Daniel, Eric, Kelsey, Brandon, Matthew, Avarie, Gracie, Ethan and Gina (Ryan); four great-grandchildren: Jaydon, Kyle, Khloe, and Ansen; his siblings: Harold (Jean), Hank (Chris), and Lavon McKeon; Donna Farley; sisters-in-law: Julie, Eloise, and Sue Breitsprecker.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Fern, Ed was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mark Walter; his siblings: Gerald, Fritz, Ray, and Irene Graves; brothers-in-law, Jake Graves and Donald McKeon; and Bob Farley.

Frances Brendemuehl

Frances E. Brendemuehl of Platteville, formerly of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2015, at the age of 96.

Nanny B. is survived by her children, Mary Jo (Dick) Loeffelholz, Colleen (Mike) Myers, both of Platteville, and Jim (Carolyn) of Baltimore, MD; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Frances was preceded into heaven by her husband, John A. Brendemuehl on August 7, 1991; her parents, Pierce and Mary Magdalena (Zenz) Patterson; her siblings, Helen McKeown, Anna, Herbert, and Marcella Siewert; and extended family members.

Frances graduated from Platteville Teachers College and was a substitute teacher in the Bloomington schools for many years. She treasured her life on the farm with John and enjoyed a good game of euchre with her friends. She was a devout Catholic whose faith carried her throughout her life.

Albert J. Breuer

Albert J. Breuer, age 94, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster surrounded by his family. Albert was born on March 2, 1920, in Cassville, the son of Conrad and Frances (Mumm) Breuer. He attended country school in Cassville. Albert married Marilyn J. Hampton on June 6, 1944, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Platteville. Together they farmed and raised their family in Cassville Township, retiring in 1983. They enjoyed playing cards with their neighbors. Albert was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and the Catholic Knights. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, and flowers. After retiring, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, landscaping, and making birdhouses and lawn ornaments. Albert had a never ending love for his family, faith and parish and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and provider.

Albert is survived by his children: Phyllis (James) Nodorft, Platteville; Paul Breuer, Platteville; Alberta Pfaff, Sacramento, CA; son-in-law, George Lenzendorf, Fennimore; Gerald (Susan) Breuer, Eugene, OR; Viola Pfaff (Mark Reger), Prairie du Chien; Dolores (Dwaine) Meyer, Bloomington; Lester Breuer (Ann McCarville) Mount Hope; Donita (Fred) Gruender, Cassville; Brenda Breuer, Prairie du Chien; Julita (Don) Singleton, Lewisburg, OH; Zelda (John) Fried, Cassville; Karla (Kyle) Fishnick, Cassville; and Janet Breuer, Lancaster; 38 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren on the way; a sister, Myra Breuer, Monroe.

Dorothy Breuer

Dorothy B. Breuer, age 101 passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. She was born July 15, 1915 the daughter of Matthias and Frances (Meyer) Zenz. On September 14, 1937, she was united into marriage to Leonard J. Breuer. Together they farmed on the Breuer Family Farm in Bloomington Township. Dorothy was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glen Haven and its Altar Society. She enjoyed trips to Ma's Bakery, her gardening, flowers, quilting and especially a Brandy Old Fashioned made right. Dorothy dearly loved her family and keeping up with their activities.

Surviving are her children; Norma Jean Prew, Barbara (Mark) Martin, Virginia (John) Klema, Maureen (Harold "Buzz") Osterhaus, David (Barb), Dale (Denise), and Mike (Barbara) Breuer, 32 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, two sisters-in-law, Anne Wagner and Agatha Breuer.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Leonard, a son-in-law Richard Prew, a sister Letha (Reaford) Reuter, brothers, Robert (Emaline), Anthony "Tony" (Florence), and Wilfred Zenz, brothers-in-law, Anthony "Tony" Wagner and Fred Breuer.

Esther Breuer

Esther Kathryn Breuer, age 97, of Glen Haven, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 22, 1918, the daughter of Frank and Clementine (Herbers) Bohnenkamp. Esther attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Bloomington, graduating 8^th grade, and came home to work on the family farm. She also spent her time cleaning homes and assisting families when new bundles of joy arrived.

Esther met and married Ambrose Kirschbaum on July 12, 1944. To this union four boys were born. They were married until Ambrose's passing on June 1, 1955. She was later united in marriage to Alphonse Breuer on April 27, 1957 at St. Mary's Church in Glen Haven. They lived on what became the family farm in Glen Haven and added three more boys to the family. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1993. Esther enjoyed quilting, gardening, word puzzles and in later years visiting the meal site in Cassville. She was very proud of keeping a pristine home and was still cleaning, cooking, and doing laundry in the farmhouse until she moved to Lancaster in May of 2015. Her greatest joy was raising her family and watching it continue to grow as the years passed.

She is survived by seven sons: Phil (Pat); Ron (Sue); Gene; Stan (Beth) Kirschbaum; Joe (Cindi); Ken; and Ed (Mary) Breuer; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law: Doris Bohnenkamp, Dorothy Breuer, Annie Wagner, Agatha Breuer and Sister Solano Breuer; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, Ambrose Kirschbaum and Alphonse Breuer, Esther was preceded in death her brothers: Alfred (Leona), Vulmar, John and two infant brothers, Raymond and Joseph Bohnenkamp; sisters: Alice (Lawrence) Felder; Irene (Albert) Osterhaus; brothers-in-law: Leo (Laura); Leonard; Roland (Agnes) Breuer; Tony Wagner; and Ray (Pauline) Crubel.

Hilda G. Breuer

Hilda G. Breuer, age 85, of Cassville, died on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. She was born on June 19, 1923, in Cassville, the daughter of Fred and Cecelia (Dresen) Mumm. Hilda attended country school. On August 25, 1942, she was united in marriage to LaVern Breuer at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Cassville area. Hilda enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and quilting. She also enjoyed gardening and doing word search puzzles. Hilda loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Gary (Phyllis) Breuer, Waukesha; Mary Lou (Jon) Caylor, Schofield; James Breuer, Cassville; Bill (Kathy) Breuer, Beetown; Robert (Hope) Breuer, Neillsville; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marcella Vondrum, Lancaster; Delores (Pete) Kirschbaum, Bloomignton; one brother: Cyril Mumm, Cassville; other relatives and many friends.

Kathryn T. Breuer

Kathryn T. Breuer, age 81, formerly of Patch Grove, died on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at her residence. She was born on July 17, 1930, in Cadott, the daughter of Paul and Susan (Gillitzer) OShaughnessy. On October 15, 1953, Kathryn was united in marriage to Cletus Breuer at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Seneca. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2004. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and raising chickens. Kathryn was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church in Patch Grove.

Survivors include her five children: Michael Breuer, Prairie du Chien; Suzanne (Jack) Parnell; Patrick Breuer, all of Flippin, AK; David (Pat) Breuer, Fennimore; Kevin (Nellie) Breuer, Kinder, LA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters: Margaret Koopman; JoAnne Jen Hermsen, both of Bloomington; Ann Perry, Madison; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Kathryn was preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Sue Boylan and Agnes Slade; one brother, Peter OShaughnessy; and two brothers-in-law, Omar Koopman and Ambrose Hermsen.

Margaret Breuer

Margaret J. Breuer, age 79, of Glen Haven, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. She was born on December 22, 1935, the daughter of Edward and Frances (Crubel) Weber. Margaret married Burnell A. Breuer on February 20, 1957. They lived and farmed near Glen Haven raising their family there until 1992 when they moved to Cassville. Margaret was a very caring and giving individual. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glen Haven and later a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. Margaret loved keeping up with her family and their activities.

Survivors include her two daughters: Charlene Ploessl; Sharon (Dan) Speerschneider; four sons: Jeffry (Jane); Stanley (Racheal); Roger (Tina); Brian (Pam); 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Germaine Mumm; Mary Ann Harter; a brother, Gerry (Val) Weber; brothers-in-law: James (Norma Starrett) Ley; James Blum; a sister-in-law, Mary Weber.

In addition to her husband, Burnell, Margaret was preceded in death by a son-in-law, William Ploessl; a grandson, Matthew Breuer; two brothers: Virgil (Connie) and Edward Weber, Jr.; four sisters: Bernice in infancy, Kathryn Ley, Frannie Blum, and Lulu Mae (Edwin) Vogt; brothers-in-law: Vince Mumm and Robert Harter.

William M. Brewer

William Murrish Bill Brewer, age 59, of Boscobel, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the Boscobel Area Healthcare in Boscobel, Wisconsin. He was born July 1, 1950, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to William Emmett and Mary Jane (Murrish) Brewer.

Bill grew up in Lancaster, Wisconsin, where he graduated from Lancaster Senior High School in 1968. He attended the University of Wisconsin Platteville and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Social Sciences in 1974 and a Master of Arts in the Teaching of History and the Social Sciences in 1979. During his junior year he studied in Copenhagen, Denmark and returned there to study after he received his B.A. degree. He spent most of his working years in retail as a manager with several different companies.

Bill was born to be a different drummer. As a child he had several handicaps, particularly his vision, but he wasnt in the least concerned about them or hampered by them, and instead embraced an alternative universe of science fiction, comic books, and a random but wide-ranging and ongoing pursuit of trivia. In all of these endeavors, he seemed to find a personal freedom. He loved the water and spent his summers at the pool where he was always the youngest kid to spring fearlessly off the high board. Often he would sink to the bottom of the deep end and would seem to remain there curled in a ball for longer than the average human is supposed to be able to hold his breath. For Bill, water, was another alternative universe to inhabit much like his love for books and comics and data in general. Bill went mainstream for a while in his early adult life, and did well for himself, but ultimately found it wasnt for him. Although his later life was filled with tragedy, most of it self-sought, to the very end he remained the sweet, lovable kid and the dreamer he had always been as a child. Someone who would never hurt others though was sadly unable to stop hurting himself.

He is survived by his sister, Sharon Scanlan (Steve) of Prescott, Arizona; his aunts, Margaret Kinney, Lancaster. Wisconsin; Elizabeth Emery, St. Paul, Minnesota; Patricia Schleicher, Madison, Wisconsin; Clarice Brewer, Dodgeville, Wisconsin; many Murrish and Brewer cousins, niece, Karen Scanlan, Cypress, Texas; nephew Chris Scanlan, Redondo Beach, California and his best friend, Bruce Bossert, Hendersonville, Tennessee. Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service and celebration of his life was held Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Schwartz Funeral Home, 142 W. Oak St., Lancaster, Wisconsin, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. A memorial grave side service was held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Visitation was held on Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be made to the Schreiner Memorial Library, 113 W. Elm St., Lancaster, Wisconsin or to the InHealth Community Wellness Clinic, 109 E. Bluff St., Boscobel, Wisconsin in memory of William M. Brewer. Reading, writing and the library were always a very important part of Bills life. His family is very grateful to the staff at the clinic for the special care and friendship he received from them during the past year.

Gloria A. Briggs

Gloria A. Briggs, age 82, of Cottage Grove, formerly of Platteville, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at UW Hospitals and Clinics, Madison. She was born on January 22, 1935, in Platteville, the daughter of Charles F. and Annabelle (Seemeyer) Austin. Gloria graduated from Platteville High School in 1953. She furthered her education at Oskaloosa, Iowa, where she earned a secretarial certificate. Gloria then went to Minneapolis for airline stewardess certification. She later returned to Platteville where she was employed at the Ford Garage. It was there that she met Jerry Cook, whom she married on October 18, 1958, at her home in Platteville. Two daughters were born to this union: Julie and Susan. The couple later moved to Madison where she managed North Glen Apartments. Jerry preceded her in death in 1982. On June 16, 1984, Gloria married Earl Briggs. After their marriage, the couple moved to Poynette where Gloria worked in the school library until her retirement in 1997. Earl preceded her in death on March 17, 2013. After his death, Gloria moved to Cottage Grove. She was an avid reader, enjoyed arts and crafts, traveling, and playing the organ and the piano.

Survivors include her daughters: Julie (Scott) Neice, Allen, TX; Susan (Scott) Lines, Madison, WI; five grandchildren: Alicia, Jennifer, Nick, Stefanie, and Shane; and one great-grandson, Cayden.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, Gloria was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Austin.

Grave side services were held on Friday, April 21, 2017, at 12:00 noon at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville, with Pastor Mike Weiss officiating. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Platteville is entrusted with her services.

Eileen H. Brinkman

Eileen H. Brinkman, age 89, of Cassville, died on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on June 12, 1920, in Cassville, the daughter of Nick and Rose (Kelley) Adrian. On January 31, 1938, Eileen was united in marriage to Peter Joseph Brinkman in Dubuque, IA. After their marriage the couple farmed on Settlement Road, rural Cassville. She was employed at Klindt and Gieger Canning Company. Eileen was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidering, and needle work. She was a very devoted, wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include her children: Gary (Carol) Brinkman; Sandra (Gary) Adams; Richard Brinkman, all of Cassville; Gwen Johnson, Bagley; Pat (David) Udelhoven, Soldotna, Alaska; Renee (Mick) Leibfried, Potosi; Mike Brinkman, Cassville; Jeff (special friend, Sue Seyfried) Brinkman, Cassville; 46 grandchildren; 82 great- grandchildren; 27 great-great grandchildren; her brother and sisters: Carol Vogt; Lois (Julius) Wiest, all of Cassville; Alan Adrian, Twixbury, MA; sister-in-law, Mary Adrian, Savannah, IL.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Peter on December 16, 1974; her daughters, Joyce (Walter) Fishnick and Charlene Brinkman; a son-in-law, Jon Johnson; a brother-in-law, Bob Vogt; three grandchildren: Jimmy, Michelle, Christy Brinkman; three great-grandchildren: Jon Paul Johnson, Nolan Fishnick, and Ryan Breuer; her brothers and sisters: Vera Adrian, Margurite (Dan) Bollinger, Leona (Carl) Sweeney, Geneva (August) Jack, Violet (Carl) Nickel, Harry (Lucille) Adrian, Virgil Adrian, and Francis (Pearl) Adrian; a sister-in-law, Pat Adrian.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 2, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Norder officiating. Burial was in St. Marys Settlement Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Thursday, April 1, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville where a 3:30 p.m. parish scripture service will be held. Friends also called on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Marcus J. Brinkman

Marcus J. Brinkman, age 68, of Cassville, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, in Pittsburg, PA. He was born on May 11, 1945, in Lancaster, the son of Fred and Agnes (Kirschbaum) Brinkman. Marcus attended Cassville Schools. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1965 and served his country until his honorable discharge. Following his service to his country, Marcus returned to Cassville to farm on the family farm. He sold the farm in 1993 and built a home in Beetown while he was employed at Rapid Dye in Cassville. Marcus enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his three children: Darcy (Luke) Ploessl; Chad Brinkman; and Kim (Chris) Cooley, all of Cassville; seven grandchildren; a sister, Rosie (Phil) Hauk, Cassville; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Marcus was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Brinkman.

Bernilda Britt

Bernilda L. Britt, age 81, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of Cassville, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015, at Finley Hospital in Dubuque. She was born on July 29, 1933, in Cassville Township, the daughter of Lawrence and Lila (Kirschbaum) Wiest. In 1951, Bernilda graduated from Cassville High School and moved to Dubuque, IA, where she was employed at Dubuque Stamping and Manufacturing. It was there that she met Paul Britt and they were married on May 17, 1958, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dubuque. In 1984, she and Paul purchased Dubuque Stamping and Manufacturing. Paul passed away in 1992 and Bernilda continued to operate the company until her retirement in 2000.

Survivors include her two brothers: Dennis and Gary Wiest and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Bernilda was preceded in death by two brothers: Julius and Maurice Wiest and three sisters: Marena Bushbom, Geraldine Bartels and Virginia Williams.

Private family services were held on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. John N. Brodel

John N. Brodel, age 84, of Marshfield, formerly of Platteville and Lancaster, died on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at St. Josephs Hospital in Marshfield. He was born on August 13, 1926, in New York, the son of Samuel and Henriyetta (Morris) Brodel. In April of 1943, John entered the United States Naval Reserve and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1945. In 1949, he graduated from CCNY and obtained his Masters degree from the University of Kentucky in 1971 and his Doctorate in 1973. John moved to Platteville where he was a professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin Platteville. He taught marketing there for thirteen years, retiring in 1991. John was active in the Big Buddy Program and was a volunteer reader at Winskill Elementary School and at Parkview Terrace Nursing Home in Platteville. He enjoyed reading and playing Santa at nursing homes and schools. John was a member of the Platteville Optimists and the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshfield.

Survivors include his loving wife, Judy Brodel, Stratford; his children: Jon Brodel, England; Adam (Fran) Brodel, CA; LaVern (Mary) Olmstead, VA, David (Janet)Olmstead, Viroqua; Diana (Curt) Place, Stratford; Deb and Becky Morgan-Meckelburg, Appleton; grandchildren: Kazmin, Michael, Joey, Becky (Rich), Kim (Bjorn), Elisabeth (Beau), Seth, Catie (Kurt), Christopher, Isaac and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren: Mike Jr., Cayden, Alexander, Harper, Kyndle and Donavon; his mother-in-law, Avis Rice, Boscobel.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Rev. Peter Ruggels officiating. Burial with military honors will be at a later date. Barbara Brooker

Barbara A. Brooker, age 83, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on February 14, 1930, in Lancaster, the daughter of Lloyd and Kathryn Brooker. Barb graduated from Lancaster High School in 1947. She attended Milwaukee Downer College where she graduated with a degree in Occupational Therapy. Barb worked in Philadelphia, Indianapolis and Chicago. She returned to Lancaster in the 1970s where she worked for Orchard Manor Nursing Home for many years. Barb also worked for the Lancaster School district until her retirement. She was an avid crafter. Barb spent numerous hours knitting, copper tooling, leather work, needlepoint, and almost any craft available to her. She was also an avid reader.

Survivors include her sister, Dorothy Chadd, Lancaster; nieces and nephews: Jeff Crawford, Gainesville, GA; Jo Ellen (John) Northouse, Bagley; Linda (David) Looper, Gainesville, GA; and Michael (Kelly) Chadd, Lancaster; two great-nieces and one great-nephew: Amy Northouse, David and Carly Chadd; other relatives and many friends.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary Lou "LuLu" Brooks

Mary Lou LuLu Brooks, age 71 of Mount Hope, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. She was born October 2, 1939 in Pennsylvania; the daughter of Orville and Blanche (Theather) Boone.

Mary Lou graduated from high school in Pennsylvania. She met and married James Brooks while he was a timber buyer in Pennsylvania. In 1964 they moved back to Grant County and lived in the Bloomington area. Mary Lou was formerly employed at Grafs Tavern and later owned Lulus Tavern; both in Patch Grove. She enjoyed being around everyone that came through the tavern door.

Surviving is her daughter Donna (Randy) Russell, Prairie du Chien; her son Pat (Renee) Brooks, Mount Hope; three grandchildren; James and Gina Russell, Prairie du Chien; and Darion Brooks, Mount Hope; her fianc Adolph Udelhoven, Mount Hope; two brothers Ben (Brenda) and LeRoy Boone of Port Royal , Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Boone; a sister-in-law, Helen Boone; and her former husband, James Brooks.

In keeping with Mary Lous wishes, there was not a funeral service. Family and friends called on Monday, November 22, 2010, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington, WI. Burial was in the St. Johns Cemetery, rural Patch Grove

Carol J. Brouillard

Carol J. Brouillard, age 80, of Lancaster, formerly of Cassville, died on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the Lancaster Care Center. She was born August 17, 1930, in the Potosi area, the daughter of William and Florence (Wolfe) Weber. Carol was united in marriage to Robert Brouillard on May 28, 1949, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The Brouillard's farmed for a brief time in Potosi on the family farm, they then moved to Cassville where Robert worked for 42 years at Okey's Market and Carol was employed as a tour guide at Stonefield Historic Site. She also was employed at SanRay Supper Club, the Paddle Wheel, and Krugers. Carol was a member of the Cassville Lioness, Eastern Star, and Cassville United Methodist Church. She dearly loved keeping up with her family and all of their activities.

Survivors include her children: James Brouillard, Verona; Dennis (Dawn) Brouillard, Elroy; Sandi (Ronald) Kelley, Cassville; Wayne (Chris) Brouillard, Alma; Lorraine (Joseph) Mergen, Cassville; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Walker, Lancaster; two sisters-in-law: Donna Weber, Wonewoc; Ethel Gardner, Rockford, IL; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Robert on August 13, 2008, a brother, Clifford Weber and two brothers-in-law: Marion Gardner and Wilbur Walker.

Robert E. Brouillard

Robert E. Brouillard, 79, of Lancaster, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at the Lancaster Care Center, surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer.

Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the Lancaster Care Center, with the Rev. William Seipp officiating. Burial was in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi. Friends called after 9 a.m. Monday at the care center.

He was born on March 27, 1929, in Potosi, son of Bert and Edna (Higgins) Brouillard. He married Carol Weber on May 28, 1949, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

The Brouillard's farmed for a brief time in Potosi on the family farm, they then moved to Cassville where he worked for 42 years at Okey's Market.

Surviving are his wife, Carol; his three sons, Jim, of Verona, Dennis (Dawn), of Elroy, and Wayne (Chris), of Alma; two daughters, Sandi (Ron) Kelley and Lorraine (Joe) Mergen, both of Cassville; a sister, Ethel, of Rockford, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Jules F. Brown

Jules Frederick Brown, age 87, of Lancaster, died on Sunday, January 24, 2010, at UW Hospitals in Madison. He was born on September 6, 1922, in Wauzeka, the son of Fred A. and Flora (Feldmann) Brown. On November 8, 1956, Jules was united in marriage to Ruth Friend Steele. Jules was a veteran of World War II. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School and was a Wisconsin lawyer all of his professional life.

Survivors include his three children: Ellen McCarville, Rockford, IL; George H. Steele, Lancaster; and Jennifer Segal, Chicago, IL and by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jules was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, and by his three siblings.

Funeral services were on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Reverend David Froemming officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Wilma Brown

Wilma Arlene Harris Brown, age 92, of Mineral Point formerly of Bagley, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Mineral Point Care Center. She was born on February 3, 1923, in the town of Wyalusing, to Archie and Katie (Weed) Harris. Along with her 10 brothers and sisters, Wilma attended the Brodtville rural school for eight years. She graduated from Patch Grove High School in 1940, then returned there for a year as they had just added typing to the school curriculum. Wilma then attended Bayless Business College in Dubuque for a year, graduating from the secretarial course. She worked in Dubuque a year, returning home to help out after her mother died.

Wilma was employed at Bonn Law Office for three years. On April 5, 1948, she was united in marriage to Melvin L. Brown of Bagley. He built a home for them in Bagley where they lived for 18 years. They became the proud parents of Wendy Lee and Cheryl Ann. Wilma gave her full time to caring for them as well as making a comfortable home for her husband. They were a close-knit, happy, little family. Most evenings, 6:00 p.m. would find mother and daughters sitting on the front step watching down the street for Dad to come home. When they could see him, Mother let them loose and they ran to meet him. When Wendy and Cheryl were very young, Wilma would take them on picnics, picking wild flowers in the spring and wading in the creek.

In later years, Wilma worked 10 years at the Campion Jesuit High School, three summers at Wyalusing State Park and 10 years for the Bureau of Community Corrections, retiring at age 68. In 1965 the family moved to rural Bagley where they were living when Melvin passed away suddenly in 1993. Wilma resided in the country until 1998 when she moved to an apartment in Prairie du Chien. She became involved in many activities such as regular exercise programs to keep herself in a healthy condition in her final years. She joined the Senior Citizens Card Club and swimming pool activities.

Wilma was a member of the Bagley United Methodist Church and played the organ for over 40 years at church. Other activities she enjoyed were gardening, flowers, painting, reading, sewing and music. Wilma moved to Mineral Point in 2007.

Survivors include her daughters, Wendy (Greg) Puza and Cheryl (Gary) Kolman; grandchildren, Wade (Amy) Kolman and Tara (Josh) Kessenich; great-grandchildren, Ava, Maya, and Leo Kolman. Also surviving are many wonderful nieces, nephews, many friends and sister-in-law, Ruth Harris.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, 10 brothers and sisters, great-granddaughter Ella Kolman, and her husband.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomington United Methodist Church with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Bagley Cemetery, Bagley. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bloomington.

John Brunner

Its the end of an era - John Brunner passed away Tuesday night, joining his wife June in the afterlife.

In 1962, he opened Brunners Food Center in downtown Potosi , which continued for 45 years as a dependable grocery store and more. A true pillar of the community, Dad was deeply involved in the community of Potosi and beyond. He carried out countless acts of unassuming generosity, helping any and all. He was involved in VFW, Southwest Vocations Club, and a multitude of functions for the parish of Sts. Andrew-Thomas, both in the churches and school. Dad was a big-time booster for local sports both grade school and high school. In addition to fundraising, he and Mom were almost always at the Saints and Chieftain games, both home and on the road.

Dads influence on his family and friends will be only part of his legacy. He has passed on a deep appreciation of music and singing to his family and friends. He was enormously influential on his children and his peers, with a quiet strength and bottomless patience. In his everyday life, and spiritual life, Dad lived his life to be the change that he wanted to see in the world. His spirituality was his own, and if he encouraged you to come along, he was the very picture of subtlety.

Dad is survived by Mary Brown, Rose (Mike) Nett, Betsy (Mike) Kittoe, Greg ( Shari ), Julie (Jim) Caldwell, Bernadette, Gretta, Mike (Camille), Christy (Jeff) Pier, Rob, Ginny (Craig) Sacia. In addition to his biological children, there were countless friends who came to adopt him as a surrogate father, foremost among them Dianne Roelke. Grandchildren include Mike Brown; Liz, Mike (Jamie) & Tim Carney; Jordane (Sam) Ross, Sydney & Brooks Kittoe; Adame & Tavia Brunner; Jacquelyn, Jonathon, & Jenna Caldwell; Emory & Erich Thiemann; Kaitlyn & Ryan Brunner; Isabelle & Jaxson Pier; and Delaney & Rex Sacia; John is also survived by his siblings Sister J. Delores, Henry (Beatrice), Sister Virginia, Sister Mary Therese, Ruth Maier and Deacon Norbert (Marion). John was preceded in death by his wife June, sister Margaret and brother-in-law Joe Maier.

Visitation was from 2:00 to 4:00 on Friday, May 28 at St. Andrews Church, with Funeral Mass to follow. Military Honors were accorded by the Berg Averkamp VFW Post No. 5276 and the American Legion Post. 473, both of Potosi . A private burial was held at a later date.

June Anne (Wolf) Brunner

June Anne (Wolf) Brunner, passed in her sleep surrounded by the voices and music of her family that she loved, on her journey to heaven. This wonderful woman created a legacy of eleven children and twenty grandchildren. Mom was world renowned for her award winning cooking and baking skills. Anyone visiting her home was immediately given a hug and made to feel right at home, usually starting with an offering of something freshly baked.

Mom also had a special talent for cake decorating and taught her skills to family, friends, and countless students in her baking classes. She is remembered also for her sewing and quilting. Of all of her abilities, Mom is most fondly remembered for the examples she has taught through the way she lived her life. Mom never ran out of time, balancing all of the chores of running her home and household from dawn to dusk, and yet she still had time to attend every sporting or music event for any of her kids or grandchildren. If there was nothing to go see, she would listen to the Brewers, Packers, or Badgers on the radio or TV, sometimes with some cookies and lemonade. Mom and Dad found time in their busy lives to do a lot of travel, both in the Americas and overseas. Mom kept a daily journal for years, read, and prayed for an hour each evening, as well. She was usually sewing or quilting, while simultaneously baking cookies, a wedding cake, or bread. Mom was constantly giving, and rarely asking for anything in return. She taught us that it is not the material goods that counted, but the giving of ourselves that was important.

Mom is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, John, and children, Mary Brown, Rose (Mike) Nett, Betsy (Mike) Kittoe, Greg (Shari), Julie (James) Caldwell, Bernadette, Gretta, Michael (Camille), Christy (Jeff) Pier, Robert, Virginia (Craig) Sacia. In addition to her biological children, there were countless friends and strangers who came to adopt her as a surrogate mother, foremost among them Diane Roelke. Grandchildren include Mike Brown; Liz, Michael (Jamie), and Tim Carney; Jordane (Sam) Ross, Sydney, and Brooks Kittoe; Adame and Tavia Brunner; Jacquelyn, Jonathan, and Jenna Caldwell; Emory and Erich Thiemann; Kaitlyn and Ryan Brunner; Isabelle and Jaxon Pier; Delaney and Rex Sacia.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Marys MICU, especially Dr. Jaymes Couser and Michelle Whitfield, RN, and the staff at the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care Inc. in Madison, Wisconsin, for their gentle nature and attentiveness. Arthur Brunton

Arthur F. Brunton, age 75, of Platteville, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. He was born on June 14, 1940, at home on British Hollow Road in Grant County, the son of Ambrose G. and Adeline L. (Pickel) Brunton. During his younger years, he worked on the family farm. Art then attended Twin Platte Center at the age of twenty-one, now known as Southwest Opportunity Center in Lancaster. He attended Southwest Opportunity Center until he required special health care for the last one and a half year. Art enjoyed riding his bike, going to the movies on the weekends at the Avalon, fishing, bowling, and an occasional beer at the VFW. He also enjoyed watching "Wheel of Fortune." Art's favorite saying was: "I'm my own boss."

Survivors include his mother, Adeline Brunton, Platteville; his siblings: Annette (John) Oellrich, New Prague, MN; Sam (Colleen) Brunton, Austin, MN; Betty (Denny) Dartsch, Wisconsin Dells; Sandy (Scot) Harcus, Cuba City; Kathy (Jim) Leahy; Rockton, IL; Mary (James) Gobrecht, Belmont; Deborah (John) Quinn, Roscoe, IL; Nancy (Steve) Weigel, Platteville; Sue (Neil) McKenna, Platteville; 25 nieces and nephews; 40 great-nieces and great-nephews; nine great-great nieces and great-great nephews; and many friends at Southwest Opportunity Center and Orchard Manor.

Arthur was preceded in death by his father, Ambrose in 1994; nephew, William Gobrecht and a niece, Tina Gobrecht.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Platteville with Pastor Michael Short and Pastor Jasmine Tesdahl officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Family and friends called on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Platteville and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, an Arthur F. Brunton Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Platteville is serving the family.

Eldon Bryhan

Eldon Bryhan, age 93, died on June 30, 2011. He was born September 15, 1917, to Elmer and Alice Bryan near Lancaster. Eldon grew up on a farm, graduated from Lancaster High School with the class of 1935. Soon after, he rode with a fellow graduate in a 1932 Plymouth to San Francisco but found no work, joined the Army and served his enlistment at the Peraidio. Eisenhower was a Lt. Colonel at the time and was also stationed there. General Marshall came to the gate one Sunday while Eldon was pulling guard duty. In early 1940 after his discharge, Eldon got a job at the 1940-1941 Exposition and during his off hours went to welding school, also got married in June to Louise DeCrocker. He took a job in the ship yards building the U.W. Naval fleet until drafted in 1945, and shipped out of Seattle on the troop ship General Buckner and the first day out from land it was announced that Japan had surrendered. Ship continued on to Okinawa where helped rebuild the island. Hungry and desperate Jap soldiers stranded on Okinawa would come down from the hills at night to murder and rob. Finally discharged, Eldon started his own welding ship in Santa Rosa in 1947. He got into rebuilding racing and stock cars and finally did some stock car racing himself, earning him the nickname of Dynamite Bryhan.

He is survived by his sister, Gladys (Don Lang) of Beloit; brothers, Dale (Marietta) of Weslaco, Texas, Norman (Ruth) of Madison, and Ralph (Sharon) of Rockford, Ill.

Eldon was preceded in death by his wife, his father and mother and older brother, Elmer Jr., sister, Evelyn and brother, Donald.

Graveside services with military honors were held on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in Boice Prairie Cemetery, Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Dieter officiating. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is assisting the family.

Susan Bryhan

Susan Bryhan passed into the hands of God on June 30, 2011, after a long battle with cancer.

Susan was born March 21, 1961 to Norman and Ruth Bryhan. Susan worked for Great Lakes Higher Education for 16 years where she worked with many wonderful, loving friends. They were so kind and supportive and her family wishes to give a special thanks to them all.

Susan is survived by her parents Norman and Ruth Bryhan, three brothers; Timothy (Anita), Patrick (Patricia) and Michael (Carla) Bryhan. Susan is also survived by Nephews and Nieces; Benjamin (Becky) Bryhan, Charles (Catherine) Bryhan, Nathan Bryhan, Alena Bryhan, Kelly (Andy) Barnes, Jay Bryhan, Jamie (Mike) Landsman, Joel Bryhan and Jenna Bryhan. Susan was also survived by Great Nieces Keira Bryhan and Merisa Bryhan, Great Nephew Jacob Bryhan, special friends Ron Gottschalk, Donna Gottschalk, and her best friend Diane Gottschalk.

Linda Budack

Linda L. Budack, age 71, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at UW Hospital in Madison. She was born on November 2, 1943, the daughter of Howard F. and Avis J. (Brennum) Hadley, Jr., in Lancaster. On October 10, 1962, Linda was united in marriage to Ernell Budack at the Bethlehem E&R Church in Lancaster. She spent the majority of her life working on the farm with her husband and raising her family. Linda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. She also liked playing the piano, music, dancing, and her dog, Zoe.

Survivors include her husband, Ernell; their children: Gregory (Deb) Budack; Sharalyn Fuller; three grandchildren: Tyrell Luebker, Nathan and Hunter Budack; two sisters: Deanna (Fritz) Marshall; Betty (Bill) Yager; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial visitation was held on Saturday, December 6, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster. Private family burial will be held at a later date.

Terry R. Budd

Terry R. Budd died at his home in Tucson, AZ on February 24, 2010 following a brief and brave battle with cancer, working up until his last day.

Terry was born to Clayton Budd and Jean ONeill Budd (later Jean Becker) on November 1, 1948 living his childhood in Fennimore and Lancaster, WI with his sisters and step-brother: Cathy (Budd) Hoffman, Cindy (Becker) Grunder, Jeff Becker.

He married his high school love, Mary Lou Northouse, and together they had one son, Michael; the family stayed in Wisconsin for all of their marriage. Terry began working in personal finance as a young man, but in 1979 he bought and ran the Sunnyside Resort on Lake Kegonsa near Stoughton WI, selling it after Mary Lous young death. Terry then moved to Oregon with Michael and there he returned to financial lending. After Michael graduated from high school, Terry moved to Arizona on his own, spending many years in Mesa, AZ, then a short period in San Ramon, CA and finally Tucson, AZ in the past two years with Washington Federal Savings.

In high school Terry was both a thespian and athlete. The latter served him well in life as he rebuilt himself after major surgery several years ago. A good work-out made his day. He enjoyed the outdoors of northern Wisconsin, auto racing, golf, and followed Wisconsin college football with a passion.

Terry is survived by his son Michael and family (wife Laurie and daughter Emily), his siblings, and his mother-in-law, Marian Northouse.

A grave side service was held on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster served the family.

To those who knew him, you should know Terry was squealing his wheels to the end!

George H. Budworth, Jr.

George H. Budworth, Jr., age 87, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at the Lancaster Care Center, Lancaster. He was born on July 31, 1921, in Bloomington, the son of George and Elizabeth (Watson) Budworth. George attended school in Bloomington. On September 15, 1941, he was united in marriage to Marie K. Kremer at St. Johns Catholic Church in Patch Grove. George was employed at John Deere as a machinist for thirty years. He also worked as a Maytag repairman for Murray Electric for many years. George enjoyed working in his yard and collecting John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed feeding his squirrels and birds, which he did on a daily basis. His family was very important to him and he loved spending time with them.

Survivors include his children: James (Mickey) Budworth, Dickeyville; Shirley (Bob) Felder-Hansen, Lancaster; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother: John (Marcella) Budworth, Bloomington; his sisters: Mary (Donald) McKelvey, Lancaster; Lucille Kasperzack, Milwaukee; many friends and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Marie on January 2, 1996; a sister, Barbara Wissbaum and a son-in-law, Harland Felder.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends called on Friday, May 8, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, where a 4:00 p.m. scripture service will be held. Friends also called on Saturday, May 9, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a George H. Budworth, Jr., memorial fund has been established.

Rachel Bunker

Rachel Bunker, age 91, of Lancaster, died on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the Lancaster Care Center. She was born on May 7, 1922, in Dodgeville, the daughter of Willard and Sarah (Davis) Bennett. As a young lady, Rachel was active in forensics and music. She frequently sang at weddings and funerals. Rachel was also the runner-up to the first Alice in Dairyland contest. On January 1, 1941, she was united in marriage to Keith Smith. They moved to Lancaster in 1949 where Keith owned an insurance agency. In 1973, Rachel married Charles Bunker and lived together until his death in 2001. During the years she lived in Lancaster, besides being a homemaker, wife, and mother, she worked as a secretary for an insurance agency, ran a daycare school, a cook at the grade school, and finally was the secretary for Farmers Home Administration. In addition to these jobs, she was known for her pasties as well as catering in the area. Rachel was a long time member of the United Methodist church where she was known for her friendliness and loved by all.

Survivors include her three sons: Gregory (Pat) Smith; Lloyd (Veronica) Smith; and Joseph Smith; seven step-children; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, Rachel was preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 4, 2013, at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, with Rev. Barbara Cook officiating. Private burial will be in East Side Cemetery in Dodgeville. Friends called from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the United Methodist Church, and one hour prior to the service Friday at church. Rita Burgess

Rita Chatarina (Fishnick) Burgess, age 60, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at UW-Hospital in Madison. Rita was born on March 19, 1955 in Lancaster, WI, the daughter of Roland and Cornelia (Koster) Fishnick. She attended Potosi School and served in the United States Air Force. She married Joseph Rustle Burgess in 1981. Rita was employed as a nurse and enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Surviving are her two sons, Benjamin Burgess and Zachary Burgess; step-son, Joseph Burgess; her mother, Cornelia Fishnick; two sisters, Sharon Dieter and Ruth Fishnick; a granddaughter, Bella Burgess; a grandson, Sterling Burgess; a niece, Shyan Bennett; and two nephews, Jeremy Irish and Joshua Dieter.

She was proceeded in death by her father, Roland Fishnick and a sister, Rosemary (Fishnick) Irish.

Funeral services was held on at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Martin Funeral Home in Potosi, with Rev. Pam Strakeljahn officiating. Burial with military honors accorded by VFW Post 5276 and American Legion Post #473 was in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi Township. Friends called an hour prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dolores I. Burggraf

Dolores I. Burggraf, age 80, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. She was born on October 23, 1927, in Dubuque County, IA, the daughter of Ben and Clara (Nauman) Wagner. On October 12, 1948, Dolores was united in marriage to Arnold J. Burggraf at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Sherrill, IA. Together they farmed in Beetown Township. Her love of farming throughout her life kept her grounded. Dolores was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed playing cards. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Rita No. 670, the Beetown American Legion Auxiliary and served as a state officer.

Brian E. Burkett

Brian E. Burkett, age 69, of Belmont, died on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at his home in Belmont. He was born on March 6, 1943, in Ottawa, IL, the son of Ervin E. and Geraldine (Gribbon) Burkett. He was employed with Wholesale Foods for many years. Brian enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Belmont.

Survivors include his children: Scott (Lynn) Burkett; Jennie (Bruce) French; a grandson, Garett William French; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by his sisters, Brenda Burkett and Barbara Burkett.

Gerald Burns

Gerald E. Burns, age 73, of Tomah, formerly of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016, at Tomah VA Medical Center. He was born on July 22, 1942, in Lancaster, the son of Clarence and Laugine (Barr) Burns. Gerald graduated from Lancaster High School and served his country in the United States Army from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1963. Gerald enjoyed the outdoors and was very artistic.

Survivors include his siblings: Gary (Jo) Burns, South Wayne; Daniel Burns, Lancaster; Shirley (Jerry) Beshear, Oklahoma City, OK; Peggy Thompson, Mustang, OK; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and James Virgil Burns.

Ethel C. Burr

Ethel Corrine Burr, age 89, of Lancaster, died on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Grant Regional Hospital surrounded by her family.

Ethel was born March 31, 1919, in Glen Haven, the daughter of Arthur and Helena (Breuer) Kaufman. She graduated from Bloomington High School. She married Melvin Burr on January 31, 1941. Together they raised six children.

The joy of Ethels life was her family. Nothing brought her greater pleasure than to spend time with family and friends enjoying good conversation and laughter. If there was mention of a euchre game, Ethel was always ready. At many a gathering, Ethel would come prepared with her homemade macaroni and cheese, a favorite of family and friends.

Ethel enjoyed many years of bowling as a member of Careys Pillettes. She was also a member of St. Clement CCW and a volunteer at the Lancaster Care Center and the Lancaster Meal Site.

She is survived by four daughters, Marlene (Kenneth) Koehn, La Crosse; Linda (Jack) Roesch and Luann (John) Bendorf, both of Lancaster; and Rhonda (David) Broihahn, Dubuque, Iowa; and one son, David (Evonna) Burr, Holmen. Ethel is also survived by her grandchildren, Kathy and Mike Koehn; Mike, Jennifer and Ryan Roesch; Leann Handel and Lynn Wolf; Thomas and Elena Burr; and Steven and Trisha Broihahn. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Steven; two brothers, Walter and Thomas Kaufman; and two sisters, Bernice Merrell and Florence Hanhardt.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2008, at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating and Bill Manthe assisting. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Goldie A. Burr

Goldie Ann Burr (Brandemuehl), age 86, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She was born on August 4, 1925 in Lancaster, WI, daughter of Carl and Nellie Brandehmuehl. Goldie graduated from Lancaster High School in 1943 and then attended college at UW-Platteville.

Goldie married her high school sweetheart, Robert O. Burr on November 23, 1946 in Lancaster. She was a longtime employee of the Lancaster school system and worked at the Winskill Elementary School.

Goldie and Bob enjoyed singing at family gatherings and social events. She loved visiting with family and friends as well as bowling, golfing, camping, travel and playing euchre. Goldie was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, a member of the Eastern Star Lodge, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Goldie is survived by her three sons: Dennis Burr, Lancaster; Mark (Teri) Burr, Aurora, CO; and James (Jane) Burr, Littleton, CO.; one grandson, Trevor Burr, Littleton, CO; three step-grandsons: Jason Poffenbarger, Westminster, CO; Eric Roberts, Denver, CO; Michael Roberts, Golden, CO; Sisters-in-Law, Mary (Schwantes) Brandemuehl, and Marsha (Houghton) Burr, both of Lancaster; Retha (Grebe) Brandemuehl, Milwaukee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Carl and Nellie Brandemuehl, her husband, Robert O. Burr; brothers; Robert, Lyus, Donald and James; sisters; Beatrice (Earl) Hoffman, Carol (Eddie) Wofford and Gladys (Tom) Perich.

Marcia Rose Burr

Robert O. Burr

Robert O. Burr, age 84, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2010, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on September 15, 1925, in Lancaster, the son of Orren and Elsie (Brun) Burr. Robert graduated from Lancaster High School in 1943. He proudly served his country in WWII as a member of 86^th Mountain infantry regiment in the renowned 10^th Mountain Infantry Division. He earned the bronze star, WWII victory ribbon with two bronze service stars and the combat infantry badge, while serving his country in the PO Valley, North Apennines in Italy.

Robert married his high school sweetheart, Goldie Ann Brandemuehl on November 23, 1946 in Lancaster. He worked for several years in the Orange Crush pop factory owned by his parents, traveling the highways and county roads delivering delicious orange crush pop products to various businesses throughout the area. Robert and his brother, Larry went into business together in the Lancaster Meat Mart before leaving that to go to work for John Deere in Dubuque, IA, where he retired from in 1987.

Robert and Goldie loved to sing at family gatherings and social events. Robert also liked to tend to his vegetable garden, camp, travel and barbeque. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post No. 109 of Lancaster.

Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Goldie Burr, Lancaster; three sons: Dennis Burr, Lancaster; Mark (Teri) Burr, Aurora, CO and James (Jane) Burr, Littleton, CO; one grandson, Trevor Burr; three step-grandsons: Jason Poffenbarger, Eric and Michael Roberts; his brother, Jan (Rosemary) Burr, Corrinth, TX; sister-in-law, Marcia (Houghton) Burr, Lancaster and brother-in-law, Ed Steffens, Middleton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Melvin (Ethel) Burr and Larry Burr and sisters, Ruth Steffens, Carol (Cy) Hanten and Dorothy (Jack) Porter.

A Masonic service was held at 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Robert O. Burr Memorial Fund has been established. Marshall Burton

Marshall "Tuffy" Burton, age 70, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 3, 2015, at Azura Memory Care in Beloit. Tuffy was born on April 3, 1945 in Lancaster, WI, a son of Kenneth and Helene (Hildreth) Burton. Tuffy graduated from Alva High School in Lehigh Acres, FL in 1966. He married Carol L. Govier on June 17, 1967 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. Tuffy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially his great-grandson Nathan Marshall. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing.

Tuffy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol of Lancaster; his daughter, Kristine (Don) Mullikin of Janesville; his son, James Burton of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Brittany, Chrystal, and Dylan, and a great-grandson Nathan Marshall Blaedow, all of Janesville; sisters, Carletta (Wayne) Bausch of Viroqua and Vicky Ackerman of Freeport, IL; a brother, John (Marcia) Burton of Lancaster; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Joanne Suess, LoRayne Konichek, and Leila Williams; three brothers, LeRoy, Dennis, and Gary; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Govier.

To honor Marshall's life, a Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster, with Pastor Dennis Govier officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Friends called one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family.

Joyce Bush

Joyce Bush, age 87, of Lancaster, entered the Lords Kingdom on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to Bert and Iva (Pettibone) Whittum on July 11, 1924. Joyce married Lowell Bush on June 25, 1948. Joyce founded Joy Public Broadcasting Corporation Christian Radio.

Survivors include her three children: Mark (Jenna) Bush; Naomi (David) Boss and Thomas (Victoria) Bush; nine grandchildren: Christopher (Keri), Jason, Regan, Zachary, Chayne, and Laura Bush and Bethany, Joshua, and Mark Boss; one great-grandchild, Colton Bush; her sister, Ruth (Al) Pontious; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Joyce rejoices in Heaven with Lowell, her parents; two siblings, Leah and Edwin, and many loved ones.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 12:00 noon at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Pastor Dave Boss officiating. Burial was at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2012, in Oakwood Cemetery, Muskegon, MI. Family and friends called on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Earl D. Buss

Earl D. Buss, 90, formerly of Potosi, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, in El Cajon, California.

Graveside services with Teri A. Hanson officiating were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009 at Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi Township. Visitation from 1:00 until time of services Friday at the Martin Funeral Home in Potosi.

Gary S. Buss

Gary S. Buss, age 71, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015, at Unity Point Health Finley Hospital in Dubuque, IA. He was born on February 6, 1944, in Lancaster, the son of Adolf and Elinor (Salis) Buss. Gary graduated from Lancaster High School. He was employed at Dubuque John Deere Works as a machinist for over thirty years until his retirement in 1995. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden, especially growing tomatoes.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila; four children: Lee (Shellie) Buss, Lorain, OH; Eric (Aggie) Buss, Prairie du Chien; Amy (Joe) Lenz, Lancaster; Dean (Missy) Buss, Potosi; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dave (Diane) Buss, Potosi; two sisters: Gloria Pauli, Fennimore; Sandy Carns, New Mexico; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by two brothers, LaDell and Steve; and his father-in-law, Mark Schwantes.

Memorial services were held on Friday, October 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster with Reverend Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Judith M. Buss

Judith May Buss, age 71, of Platteville, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. She was born on September 12, 1943, in Lancaster, the daughter of Herbert and Gladys (Wendlandt) Smith. Judith attended country school and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1960. On June 24, 1967, she was united in marriage to Michael Buss at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster. After their marriage, Judith was employed at Loud Speaker Component until moving to Platteville. She raised her family and was a loving aunt who cared for and raised her extended family as well. Judith enjoyed her flower garden, reading, traveling and her mother-daughter-sister shopping trips. She also enjoyed Sister Days.

Survivors include her loving husband, Michael Buss; their children: Aaron Buss and Meghan (Michael) Annable; one grandchild on the way; one brother, Orville Smith; four sisters: Ann (Jerry) Lawrence; Linda (Tom) Fielder; Micki Smith; Donna (Mark) Landon; a sister-in-law, Joyce Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Judith was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and David Smith; a sister, Jean Vogt; two nephews, Duane and Mark Smith; a great niece, Cherish Hope Lawrence; and her mother and father-in-law, Harold and Lyla Buss.

Private family funeral services were held on Friday, October 3, 2014, at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster with Pastor David Froemming officiating. Private family burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Lyla M. Buss

Lyla M. (Hornbeck) Buss, age 98, of Lancaster, died on Friday, December 6, 2013, at the Lancaster Care Center. She was born on July 8, 1915, in Cuba City, the daughter of George and Helena (Gable) Hornbeck. On January 30, 1937, Lyla was united in marriage to Harold J. Buss in Galena, IL, who preceded her in death. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking, cooking and working in her flower beds.

Survivors include her children: Virginia Richter, VA; Michael (Judy) Buss, Platteville; Sandra (Roger) Coats, MN; Pamela J. Buss, Lancaster; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Lyla was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brothers and sisters.

Funeral services wereon Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster with Reverend Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until time of services at the funeral home.

Bette J. Butson

Bette J. Butson, age 86, of Platteville, died on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Heartland Health Care Center in Platteville. She was born on July 16, 1921 in Colome, South Dakota, the daughter of Michael and Maude (Deacon) Harty. Bette attended and graduated from Colome High School and received a Debate Scholarship to University of South Dakota, but was not able to attend. Bette married Donald J. Butson on November 17, 1948 in Colome. Donald preceded her in death in 1960. She worked for the Grant County Shopping News for 30 years, retiring in 1986. Bette was a faithful member of St. Marys Catholic Church and a member of the St. Marys CCW. She was also a member of the VFW Womens Auxiliary and the American Legion Womens Auxiliary.

Bette is survived by four children: Jeffrey Butson, Platteville; Jan Reed, Tucson, AZ; Julie Stead, Platteville; and Kelly Butson, Waunakee; four grandchildren: Zackary Butson, Amanda Stead, and Rochelle and Tanya Reed; her brother-in-law, Warren Doug (Gertrude) Butson, Platteville; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; four brothers, Clinton Paul, James Theodore, Joseph Myron and Charles Franklin and a sister, Mary Catharine.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Platteville with Monsignor Charles Schluter officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Visitation was held on Friday, February 1, 2008 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville with a parish rosary service at 4:00 p.m. and VFW and American Legion Auxiliary memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Friends were also welcomed from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday at the church.

Jeffrey Butson

Jeffrey L. Butson, age 65, passed away peacefully at his home in Platteville on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Jeff was born in Cuba City, WI on October 4, 1949, the son of Donald and Bette (Harty) Butson. He was a 1967 graduate of Platteville High School. Jeff served in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969 with the 4^th Infantry Division, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Upon his discharge, he returned to Platteville and enrolled at UW Platteville.

Shortly after his 21^st birthday Jeff was paralyzed as a result of a car accident. He never complained about his condition and did not let his disability control his life. He returned to college, graduating in 1977, and was then employed by the Public Service Commission in Madison until his retirement. His attitude toward life was a true inspiration to all who knew him.

Jeff is survived by his brother, Kelly Butson of Waunakee; his sisters, Jan Reed of Tucson, AZ and Julie Stead of Forest Grove, OR;his uncle, Warren Doug (Gert) Butson of Platteville; nieces, Rochelle Reed, Tanya Reed and Amanda Stead; a nephew, Zachary Butson; and by many special friends, too numerous to count, who will forever remember his courage and friendship.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Rett; and his brother-in-law, Kevin Stead.
